Our Brazil-only biweekly happy hours have become a real tradition. It’s energizing to meet such an exceptional group of friends — startup founders, researchers exploring the most esoteric topics, and all sorts of entrepreneurs — all united by their drive to create real prosperity. And being the oldest among them not only gives me a special perspective but also energizes me every time.
At this week’s happy hour, I met Andrew Feldman, founder and CEO of Cerebras Systems (photo above) — a Fabrica Ventures portfolio company. We had a pleasant conversation and agreed to meet again soon so he can share more about Cerebras’s goals following last week’s $1.1B Series G round.
This funding round was led by Fidelity, a clear indication that the company is moving toward an IPO — a common step for late-stage startups is to raise a large round from public-market investors before going public. Benchmark and Altimeter, which led the previous rounds, also participated. The raise wasn’t part of Cerebras’s original plan, as the company had filed for an IPO in September 2024 but ran into regulatory delays because of a $335M investment from G42, based in Abu Dhabi.
Cerebras, founded in 2015, is best known for its wafer-scale processors — dinner-plate-sized chips designed specifically to accelerate AI training and inference. The company provides ultra-fast training and inference services powered by its proprietary silicon infrastructure. In a recent demo, a Cerebras system ran OpenAI’s newest open-source model, gpt-oss-120B, at roughly 3,000 tokens per second — a major breakthrough in responsiveness for large-scale AI models.
2025 has been a year of explosive growth. The company has opened five new US data centers to host its AI hardware (token as a service model), with additional sites underway in Montreal and France. It now serves trillions of tokens per month and has formed partnerships this year with AWS, Meta, IBM, and Mistral.
Conclusion
What an incredible privilege to stand — and actively take part — at the very heart of the most extraordinary technological revolution in human history!
